Fun Facts about Trails End Lodge

Trail's End Lodge is a Canadian fishing and hunting lodge located in Ontario, Canada on the beautiful Clearwater/Pipestone chain of lakes, a short 42-mile drive from International Falls, Mn / Ft. Frances border crossing.

Your Canada vacation will take place on 11 acres of prime property with over 1000 feet of shoreline, shaded by towering 300-year-old white pine trees. Our Canadian fishing lodge features a stone fireplace and seasoned, knotty pine walls throughout and a beautiful view of Clearwater Lake. The camp has 10 beautiful log cabins and 4 cedar shake housekeeping cabins that have accommodations for 2 to 15 guests. A full American Plan is available and meals on request. Our largest rental cabin, "Leaning Pines" is equipped with 4 bedrooms, loft, 3 bathrooms, 6-burner commercial gas stove /oven and laundry, sleeps 12.

9 of the 14 log cabins date back to the 1920's and 1930's. Rumor has it, and historical documents add credence to Al Capone having an interest in the property during that period. These cabins have been meticulously maintained over the years with modern comforts but also provide you with a chance to "go back in time". Originally, the site was established as the headquarters for a logging company.

Your Canadian fishing trip will have access to many lakes by boat, mechanical portage or if you're into real adventure, foot portage. You will catch Walleye, Muskie, Lake Trout, Northern, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Jumbo Perch and Crappie. Feel free to bring your own boat or rent a Trail's End boat and motor as part of your Canadian fishing trip. We also have all the fuel, bait and fishing licenses you will need right at camp.

A hearty fisherman's breakfast is served in our rustic Canadian fishing lodge starting at 7 a.m.  We hope this will get you on Clearwater Lake a bit quicker each day (no clean-up or dishes).  Canadian walleye fishing isn't complete without a shore lunch.  Canned beans, vegetables and potatoes, are provided for your shore lunch as part of your Trail's End Lodge fishing trip.  Shore lunch kits also include: pots, pans, utensils and cooking oil, all packed in water resistant, plastic containers for you each day.  Just catch a few delicious walleye and enjoy!

Your day will end after a well earned dinner, maybe some more fishing and then a big bonfire each night to tell fish stories and meet new friends.

Family fishing trips are encouraged at Trails End Lodge.  We have canoe's, a paddle boat, bean-bag toss, horeseshoes, pool table, ping pong table and more.  All of these activities are available at no additional charge for Trails End Lodge guests.  Children 15 and under are 1/2 price and 6 and under are free with adult.

FAMILY REUNIONS, CORPORATE INCENTIVE TRIPS

Why not schedule your Family Reunion or Incentive Award Trip at Trails End Lodge. Air service to International Falls, Minnesota is provided by Northwest Airlines and we can arrange shuttle service. We sleep up to 80 people in 14 cabins, plus 6 nice RV spots.  We have a 1250 square foot Event Center with pool tables, ping pong table, stereo, washrooms, kitchen, overhead screen, tables and chairs for 80 people.  Beautiful building with all knotty pine tongue and groove interior.  Our Event Center is available to all guests at no additional charge.

DEER HUNTING

Located near the junction of hunting zones 7B, 9B, and 10, Trails End offers access to fabulous Canadian white tail deer hunting in a strong herd of very large heavy deer.

Boat and vehicle access to over 50,000 acres of excellent hunting, along with highly experienced guides have rewarded hunters with tremendous success over the last few years. You will hunt remote areas close to Trails End Lodge that assure you of a safe, secluded and adventurous hunt.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

15 mile hiking trail that begins a few hundred yards from Trails End Lodge.  A beautiful trail through the thick bush and rolling terrain of NW Ontario.  Keep your camera ready for some beautiful scenery and wild life.

Take a float plane trip over the area and experience the beauty of the area from above.  Inquire about a float plane ride at the office and we will give you a couple airbases within 30 minutes of the resort to discuss.

If you just can't leave the golf clubs alone for a few days, there is a golf course 35 minutes from Trails End Lodge, near Emo.  You actually passed the course on your ride into the resort from International Falls / Ft. Frances.

Later in the summer, the wild blueberries are ready for you to pick.  The blueberry bushes can be found all over the area.  Grab a container and start picking these delicious berries for a great blueberry pie or sprinkled over ice cream or cereal.  WOW !

There are also several merchants in the Fort Frances, Emo & Nestor Falls area that specialize in souvenirs, local crafts, and art
